Website Design vs. Development: Why I Do Both (Hint: It Saves You Money)

Website design is the creativity.  It’s the vision, the ideas, and the beauty.  It’s about making things flow and look aesthetically pleasing.  Website design takes into account the user experience, the visitor journey, and the website goals.  Website design is about getting visitors from point A to point B (usually visiting the site to purchasing or applying).

Website development is about the gears of the website.  It’s about making the design work.  Because website design involves technology, there are a lot of things that go into making a design become a reality.

There are website designers that don’t do development, and there are website developers that don’t do design.  But there are some of us that do both (what what!)

I’m really proud to say that I do all the development for my own sites.  There are some exceptions (primarily e-commerce sites), but the majority of the sites I design, I also develop.

What this means:

  • It’s all-inclusive (aka cheaper)

    • If I had to hire a developer in addition to the design work that I do then my clients would have to pay two people rather than just me.  This cuts down costs.

  • It’s seamless

    • I don’t need to spend time communicating with a developer and getting the vision across.  I know the vision, and I’m able to make it a reality.

  • It’s user friendly

    • Because of the way that I build my sites, the development and coding that go into it are not needed to be edited by the client.  As a client, you are able to change images, photos, and more without even reaching out to me.  The coding that I do is stored in an entirely different section so there’s no risk of you breaking your site either.

When the final site is delivered, my clients receive a beautiful, fully custom website that won’t break and they are able to edit.  In addition, my sites are all built with SEO in mind so they are literally built to rank on search engines like google.

If you’re ready to upgrade your online presence with a user-friendly, goal-oriented, and SEO-informed website, apply to work with me here.  I take on a limited number of projects each month.
