A Lesson On Listening To Yourself
I couldn’t sleep, I felt nauseous, it was all I talked about. The mere process brought on new questions about who I am as a person and what my business stands for…
And the worst part… I’m talking about a f*cking color palette.
I decided I wanted to rebrand my business. At this point in my business I outsourced my branding.
I wanted to do something a bit different that would stand out so I went for bright colors. They were orange and blue and yellow and red. BRIGHT. You get the point…

The old Pinterest board
It looked good all together, but when I started to apply it to my business by making graphics and integrating it in my branding I felt so uncomfortable. I spent a week going back and forth on it because it felt different and unique but it wasn’t me.
My partner was getting annoyed with listening to me talk about colors; heck I was getting annoyed too! No one wants to listen to someone stress out about colors for a week.
Ultimately, I reached out to a coach for support. Aubrianna immediately clarified it, saying, “It sounds like you aren’t listening to yourself. You know the answers, but you aren’t letting yourself listen”. Huh. That made sense…
I sent my branding gal, Dara, an email and we pivoted. I could sleep. My business was in alignment. I was excited. I could see the application working for me. Within minutes I went from a stress case to feeling centered.

The new Pinterest board
And the lesson: when you’re unsure, you’re not listening to yourself. I keep coming back to this because it’s so damn true. Every period of my life that I’ve been unsure of or lacking confidence about a decision it’s because I’m not honoring what I actually know to be my truth.
So all that to say sometimes it takes the most trivial thing to get us out of whack. But keep listening to yourself; you know the answers.
